Gary Miller, PMHNP
I am Gary, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Mental health has always been personal to me, and that's what led me into this field. I've seen how much mental health struggles affect not just individuals, but their families too. It taught me how important it is to feel truly heard by your provider.
I started my career in critical care nursing, where I learned how to build trust quickly and support people through hard moments. Later, I moved into psychiatric care, working in residential treatment, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs. That experience shaped how I practice today: every patient is different, and their care should be too.
I combine medication management with CBT-informed techniques, supportive therapy, mindfulness, and lifestyle strategies, adjusted to fit each person. I have a special interest in anxiety and mood disorders. My goal is always to make sure patients understand their diagnosis and feel confident in their treatment choices.
You don't need to have everything figured out before your first appointment. This is a judgment-free space, and treatment decisions are always made together, not handed down. I'll make sure you understand your diagnosis, your options, and why I'm recommending what I recommend. All I ask is that you stay open and engaged. We'll work out the rest together.
We start by getting to know you as a whole person. In your first appointment, we'll talk through your psychiatric history, current concerns, symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. From there, we build a treatment plan together, which might include medication, therapy techniques, lifestyle changes, and coping tools suited to you. That plan isn't fixed. It changes as you do. My goal at every step is to keep you informed, involved, and supported.
I work closely with my collaborating physician and board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Joye, to make sure every patient receives well-rounded, thoughtful care.
